Job Description

Our client, a growing and financially stable organization in Northwest Houston, is seeking a Senior Accountant, Internal Financial Reporting to join its accounting and finance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting for executive leadership while supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial reports for management.
  • Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Review financial results and investigate fluctuations against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities through financial analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with operational and business leaders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Assist with audits and provide requested financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • CPA designation or CPA-track candidates preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting multi-entity or complex organizational structures.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline accounting processes.
